Man inflating a tire

Want to maintain the excellent performance of your Mazda and extend the life of your tires? Keeping your tires properly inflated is a quick and easy way to do both. But, how you know if your Mazda CX-3 tire pressure is at the correct level? We have the breakdown of recommended tire pressures for you Mazda below!

Why Tire Pressure Matters

When you are navigating the roads of Westfield roads, your tires are in constant friction with the road. Keeping them inflated to recommended levels helps ensure better traction, especially in slippery conditions, as well as more even wear.

Tires can also lose, on average, up to a pound of per square inch of pressure each month. This loss can increase even more in the cold winter months, or even turn into a gain during the warm summer months as heat causes the air to expand.

Recommended Tire Pressure for Your Mazda

Next time you check the tire pressure of your Mazda, make sure it meets the standards set below for your vehicle:

  • Mazda3 Tire Pressure: 36 psi
  • Mazda6 Tire Pressure: 36 psi for 17-inch/35 psi for 19-inch
  • Mazda CX-3 Tire Pressure: 36 psi for front/33 psi for rear
  • Mazda CX-5 Tire Pressure: 34 psi for 17-inch/36 psi for 19-inch
  • Mazda CX-9 Tire Pressure: 36 psi for 18-inch/34 psi for 20-inch
  • Mazda MX-5 Miata Tire Pressure: 29 psi

How to Check Your Tire Pressure

Now that you know what your Mazda CX-5 tire pressure should be, how do you go about checking it? For starters, you want to make sure your tires are cold. To do this you either need to let them sit for three hours after driving, or if you need to check them at a gas station, it needs to be less than a mile away. Then, you want to:

  1. Remove the valve cap from the tire.
  2. Place the pressure gauge over the tire valve and gently push down
  3. Check the reading and then gently remove the gauge
  4. If the reading is low, inflate to recommendations above and on the tire sidewall.
  5. If reading is too high, squeeze the metal centerpiece of the tire valve to release air to the appropriate level.
  6. Once the pressure is correct, replace the valve cap.
  7. Repeat the process for each tire until they are all properly inflated.
