New Mazda CX-5 Crossover for Sale in West Springfield, MA
The crossover segment is hugely popular right now, and it’s not a mystery as to why. The middle ground between a car’s attributes and an SUV’s capabilities is understandably very attractive. The elegant and comfort-focused 2020 Mazda CX-5 fits that bill and stands a step above the conventional designs of its competitors. Plus, this model year brings the most powerful version of this midsized crossover ever, thanks to the available Skyactiv-G 2.5-liter turbo engine, which cranks out 250 horsepower and 320 lb.-ft. of low-end torque on premium (93 octane) fuel.
Trims and Powertrain
The 2020 Mazda CX-5 is offered in five trim levels: Sport, Touring, Grand Touring, Grand Touring Reserve, and Signature. The Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring trims receive a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine producing 187 horsepower and 186 lb.-ft. of torque. The Grand Touring Reserve and Signature models get the hardy and responsive turbocharged engine upgrade. Drivers can use regular unleaded gasoline to get 227 hp and 310 lb.-ft. of torque out of this powerplant, or they can go for full power – the aforementioned 250 hp and 320 lb.-ft. – by using high-test gas.
All trims come with standard front-wheel drive, but Mazda’s iActiv AWD is optional. This innovative system monitors weather and mechanical factors (outside temperature, use of windshield wipers, and throttle, steering, and braking activity) to “sense” when wheel slippage is likely to happen so that it can adjust power to the appropriate wheels before loss of traction can occur. All trims get the same six-speed automatic transmission with dynamic drive mode selection and manual-mode shifting. Fuel economy is quite good, with the Sport trim with FWD rated by the EPA to achieve 25 mpg city and 31 mpg highway.
Comfort and Convenience
The base Sport is set up with LED headlights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, power-adjustable side mirrors with integrated turn-signal indicators, remote keyless entry, push-button start, a rearview camera, a 40/20/40 split one-touch fold-down rear seat, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter knob. The Touring adds dual-zone automatic climate control, Mazda Advanced Keyless Entry and Start, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, and simulated-leather seats with Lux Suede inserts. The Grand Touring enhances comfort and convenience with a rear power liftgate with programmable height adjustment, heated power side mirrors, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, a power-adjustable front passenger’s seat, LED fog lights, and leather seating. Choose the Grand Touring Reserve and your back-seat passengers will enjoy the heated rear outboard seats, while you’ll be pampered with a heated steering wheel and ventilated front seats. The nicely loaded Signature maxes out the amenities with a sunroof, an around-view camera system, improved leather seating, and genuine layered-wood interior trim.
Safety and Technology Features
Mazda’s i-Activsense suite of active safety features is included on all versions of the 2020 Mazda CX-5. This includes blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, advanced smart city brake support with pedestrian detection, radar cruise control with stop-and-go, smart brake support with collision warning, and lane departure warning with lane keeping assist. The Signature adds front and rear parking sensors.
All trims get the Mazda Connect infotainment system with increasing amenities. The base version in the Sport is set up with a 7-inch touchscreen and voice commands, a four-speaker audio system, Bluetooth hands-free, HD radio, an auxiliary audio input jack, and two front USB ports. The Touring adds Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and upgrades to a six-speaker audio system and two rear USB ports, while the Grand Touring receives a premium 10-speaker Bose audio system and satellite radio. The Grand Touring Reserve comes with an 8-inch touchscreen, and the top-of-the-line Signature gets integrated navigation.
