The 2025 Mazda3 Hatchback is available in seven trim levels: 2.5 S, 2.5 S Select Sport, 2.5 S Preferred, 2.5 S Carbon Edition, 2.5 S Premium, 2.5 Carbon Turbo, and 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus. The 2.5 S versions receive a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine making 191 hp and 186 lb.-ft. of torque. As mentioned in the introduction, the 2.5 Turbo grades get a turbocharged version of the same engine with an output of 227 hp and 310 lb.-ft. of torque (250 hp and 320 lb.-ft. with premium fuel). A six-speed automatic transmission is standard in most trims, except for the 2.5 S Premium, which gets a six-speed manual – a boon to fans of the stickshift. Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard, but the 2.5 S Carbon Edition, 2.5 Carbon Turbo, and 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus get standard all-wheel drive (AWD).
According to the EPA’s official estimates, most FWD 2025 Mazda3 Hatchback trims achieve 27 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway; however, the 2.5 S Premium with its manual gearbox returns 26 city/36 highway. The AWD models with the non-turbo engine return 26 city/33 highway, while the turbocharged versions will give you 23 city/31 highway.
The 2.5 S comes with remote keyless entry, push-button ignition, cloth upholstery, power windows with one-touch auto-up/down, a holder for sunglasses in the overhead console, two USB-C ports, a 7-inch LCD meter display, air conditioning, a 60/40-split folding rear seatback, automatic-on/off LED headlights, power-adjustable side mirrors, 16-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, and variable intermittent windshield wipers. The 2.5 S Select Sport is improved with proximity keyless entry, rain-sensing windshield wipers, leatherette upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated side mirrors with turn-signal indicators, and 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels.
The 2.5 S Preferred takes things up a notch more with heated front seats, a power-adjustable driver’s seat with position memory, side mirrors with position memory, and a panoramic sunroof with an interior sunshade. The 2.5 S Carbon Edition stands out with red leather upholstery, wireless phone charging, black side mirrors, black 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, and unique Polymetal Gray Metallic paint.
The 2.5 S Premium resembles the 2.5 S Preferred, but with the addition of leather upholstery, a head-up display, signature LED headlights and taillights, and black 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels. The 2.5 Carbon Turbo lacks the head-up display, leather upholstery (Terracotta-colored leatherette is standard), and signature LED headlights and taillights but includes a heated steering wheel, wireless phone charging, and eye-catching Zircon Sand Metallic paint. The top-tier 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus brings back the head-up display and signature LED headlights and taillights. It also gains perforated leather upholstery, a frameless auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, a windshield wiper de-icer, and black-finished sporty exterior accents (aero rear roof spoiler, front air dam, and front air guards).
Every 2025 Mazda3 Hatchback trim features the i-Activesense safety suite, which includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, driver attention alert, automatic high beams, and rear seat reminder. The 2.5 S Premium goes a step further with an adaptive front lighting system and traffic sign recognition, while the 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus is fully loaded with a surround-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, and reverse automatic braking.
The 2025 Mazda3 Hatchback boasts an advanced infotainment system across all trim levels. Most get an 8.8-inch display, which is controlled by the multifunctional dial on the center console. The key features include Android Auto, voice Apple CarPlay, voice recognition, a six-speaker audio system, and Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming. The 2.5 S Select and above also have Amazon Alexa integration. With the 2.5 S Carbon Edition, look for wireless Apple CarPlay, an eight-speaker audio system, and HD Radio.
The 2.5 S Premium reverts to wired Apple CarPlay but goes for big sound with a premium 12-speaker Bose audio system, plus SiriusXM satellite radio and navigation. While the 2.5 Carbon Turbo drops the 12-speaker Bose sound system, SiriusXM satellite radio, and navigation, it gains a 10.25-inch display with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus is equipped the same way as the 2.5 Carbon Edition (with the 12-speaker Bose system, SiriusXM satellite radio, and navigation).
