Trims, Powertrain, and Performance

The 2025 Mazda MX-5 Miata is a lightweight, rear-wheel drive two-seater offered as both a classic soft-top (ST) roadster and a fastback with a retractable hard-top (RF). The ST is offered in three trim packages – Sport, Club, and Grand Touring – while the RF comes just as the Club or Grand Touring.

Under the hood of every 2025 Mazda MX-5 Miata is a spirited 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with an output of 181 horsepower. It’s paired with the standard six-speed manual transmission or the optional six-speed automatic. This is a fuel-efficient roadster, earning EPA-estimated ratings of 26 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway with the manual transmission and 26 mpg city/35 mpg highway as an automatic.

Noteworthy Features

The Sport is nicely furnished with cloth upholstery, premium leather accents (on the steering wheel, shift knob, and parking brake handle), the Mazda Advanced Keyless Entry, push-button ignition, manually controlled air conditioning, LED exterior lighting (headlights, daytime running lights, and taillights), power-adjustable side-view mirrors, cruise control, and 16-inch aluminum-alloy wheels fitted with high-performance tires. The Club takes performance up a notch with an asymmetrical torque-sensing limited-slip differential, Bilstein dampers, a black rear lip spoiler, and a front air dam. Beyond that, it gains heated seats with suede inserts and 17-inch wheels.

As the highest trim level, the Grand Touring adds a touch of luxury with leather upholstery, automatic climate control, a frameless auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, rain-sensing windshield wipers, automatic on/off LED headlights, and heated side mirrors (with driver’s-side auto-dimming). Stainless-steel inserts on the black doorsill trim plates give the interior some added character.

Active Safety Systems

Mazda’s i-Activsense safety suite is installed in every 2025 Mazda MX-5 Miata, providing blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, smart brake support (forward), and secondary collision reduction. The Grand Touring takes safety further with traffic sign recognition, an adaptive front-lighting system, and automatic high beams. With the automatic transmission, the Grand Touring will get Mazda Radar Cruise Control and distance and speed alert for added convenience on long drives.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The intuitively operated 7G Mazda Connect infotainment system is anchored by an 8.8-inch display controlled via the Multifunction Commander rotary dial on the center console in every trim. The Sport includes today’s essentials: Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, built-in Amazon Alexa, HD Radio, Bluetooth, and a six-speaker audio system with headrest speakers for the driver. The Club and Grand Touring advance to wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a premium nine-speaker Bose audio system with headrest speakers for both the driver and passenger. The Grand Touring alone gets integrated navigation. Each trim also comes with a one-year trial of Mazda Connected Services to sweeten the ownership experience.
