There are six trim choices for the 2024 Mazda3 Sedan: 2.5 S, 2.5 S Select Sport, 2.5 Preferred Package, 2.5 S Carbon Edition, SV-Carbon Turbo, and 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus Package. Most versions have a 191 horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine under their hood, but the Carbon Turbo and Turbo Premium Plus receive a turbocharged version of the same engine, producing 227 horsepower with regular 87 octane gasoline or 250 hp with premium (93 octane) gas.
The lower trims (Preferred and below) have front-wheel drive (FWD), while the Carbon Edition and above come with all-wheel drive (AWD). A six-speed automatic transmission is the sole gearbox for the Mazda3 Sedan. The EPA-estimated fuel economy (based on 2023 data) is 28 mpg around town and 37 mpg on the open road for the base configuration (non-turbo engine and FWD). The addition of AWD changes those ratings to 26 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway. The turbo/AWD combination delivers 23 city/32 highway.
The base 2024 Mazda3 S comes with remote keyless entry, fabric upholstery, air conditioning, push-button start, LED headlights with auto on/off, a 60/40-split folding rear seat, a 7-inch driver display, and 16-inch aluminum-alloy wheels. The upgrades for the S Select Sport include proximity keyless entry, dual-zone automatic climate control, leatherette upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, heated side mirrors, rain-sensing windshield wipers, an overhead console, rear air-conditioning vents, and 18-inch alloy wheels.
There are additional premium touches for the S Preferred, such as a power moonroof, heated front seats, an eight-way power driver’s seat, a driver’s position memory system, heated power side mirrors with tilt-in-reverse, and trim-specific exterior accents. The S Carbon Edition adds exclusive red leather upholstery. The SV-Carbon Turbo trim is based on the S Preferred and has terracotta leatherette upholstery and unique interior and exterior accents. As the top-of-the-line version, the Turbo Premium Plus has leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, a head-up display, adaptive headlights, signature LED exterior lighting, and an auto-dimming side mirror feature for the driver.
All 2024 Mazda3 Sedans come with forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, rear door alert, and a driver attention alert. The Turbo Premium Plus is loaded with even more safety features: a surround-view monitor, rear automatic braking with cross-traffic support, front and rear parking sensors, traffic jam assist, and traffic sign recognition.
The 2024 Mazda3 Sedan is equipped with an 8.8-inch central display for its infotainment setup, opting for an easy-to-use dial set into the center console instead of a touchscreen. This design choice, initially popularized in upscale European cars, eliminates the need for the driver to uncomfortably stretch to access the screen, avoids fingerprints on the screen, and keeps the driver’s eyes on the road longer. The base infotainment components are a six-speaker audio system, plug-in Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, dual USB ports, voice command, text messaging support, and access to Mazda Connect services (for emergency help and other features).
The Carbon Edition is upgraded with wireless device charging, an eight-speaker audio system, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. A 10.25-inch display is found in the Carbon Turbo and Turbo Premium Plus, and it allows touchscreen functionality through occupants’ phones for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Turbo Premium Plus also gets navigation, a 12-speaker Bose audio system, and SiriusXM satellite radio.
