Eight trims are offered for the 2024 Mazda CX-30: the Base, Select Sport, Preferred, Carbon Edition, Premium, Carbon Turbo, Turbo Premium, and Turbo Premium Plus. Most are equipped with a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine (191 hp and 186 lb.-ft. of torque), but those with Turbo in their name get a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder that puts out 250 hp and 320 lb.-ft. of torque when premium unleaded fuel is used. All trims have a six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drivetrain.
Fuel efficiency, according to the official findings of the EPA, is 26 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway for the non-turbo 2024 Mazda CX-30 trims. The turbo-charged trims all return an estimated 22 city/30 highway.
The Base trim has a good number of amenities, including auto on/off LED headlights, remote keyless entry, push-button ignition, cloth-upholstered sport seats, dual USB-C ports, a 7-inch LCD gauge cluster, and a practical 60/40-split folding rear seatback. The Select Sport adds proximity keyless entry, rain-sensing wipers, heated power-adjustable side mirrors, roof rails, dual-zone automatic climate control, a rear center armrest with cupholders, synthetic-leather upholstery, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob.
The Preferred includes a moonroof, heated front seats, a power-adjustable driver’s seat with memory, and exterior mirrors with reverse gear tilt-down and position memory. The Carbon Edition gets black exterior accents, special Polymetal Gray Metallic paint, red leather upholstery, and a wireless phone charge pad. While the Premium has the Carbon Edition’s wireless phone charger, it mainly builds upon the Preferred with adaptive LED headlights, a power liftgate, steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, leather upholstery (available in black or white), and a head-up display.
The Carbon Turbo resembles the Carbon Edition, but with unique Zircon Sand paint, terracotta-colored leather upholstery, and – of course – the more powerful engine. Similarly, the Turbo Premium has the Premium’s contents but gains a windshield wiper de-icer, a frameless auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a heated steering wheel. At the top of the range, the Turbo Premium Plus gets all of the above plus an auto-dimming driver’s-side mirror.
The 2024 Mazda CX-30 is well equipped with the latest active driver-assist technologies. All trims receive forward collision warning with brake support, lane departure warning, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, driver attention alert, automatic high beams, a rear seat reminder, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. The Premium, Turbo Premium, and Turbo Premium Plus also come with traffic sign recognition, but the Turbo Premium Plus is further enhanced with a surround-view camera and reverse collision warning with brake support.
The Base, Sport, and Preferred all have an infotainment system built around an 8.8-inch touchscreen with voice recognition, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming, and a six-speaker audio system. The Carbon Edition gets an additional pair of speakers and introduces wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and HD Radio. The Premium boasts built-in navigation, a 12-speaker Bose audio system, and SiriusXM satellite radio. While the Carbon Turbo’s infotainment has the same components as the one in the Carbon Edition, it’s housed in a 10.25-inch touchscreen. This display is standard in the Turbo Premium and Turbo Premium Plus as well, along with all of multimedia features included in the non-turbo Premium trim.
