2021 Mazda6 Sedan for Sale in Springfield, MA
The 2021 Mazda6 stands out in appearance, standard equipment, and overall build quality – even compared to higher-priced midsized sedan competitors. It blends an exterior that’s sleek and streamlined with an interior that’s minimalist and modern, yet still undeniably premium. The 2021 model year introduces a brand-new Carbon Edition trim level, which is based on the Grand Touring Reserve but has an exclusive color scheme and style. Plus, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto now come standard even on the base trim.
Trims and Powertrain
The 2021 Mazda6 is a front-wheel drive midsized sedan that’s offered in six trim levels: Sport, Touring, Grand Touring, Grand Touring Reserve, Carbon Edition, and Signature. The powerplant under the hood of the Sport and Touring is a SKYACTIV-G 2.5-liter four-cylinder (187 hp and 186 lb.-ft. of torque). The other trims are ignited by a turbocharged SKYACTIV-G 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 227 hp and 310 lb.-ft. of torque (but you’ll get 320 lb.-ft. if you go with premium fuel). All trims get a six-speed automatic transmission equipped with manual shift and sport mode to be used at the driver’s whim.
The base (non-turbocharged) engine uses cylinder deactivation at cruising speed to improve fuel efficiency. According to official EPA fuel economy estimates, the 2021 Mazda6 with this engine achieves 26 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway. With the turbocharged 2.5-liter engine, those stats dip to 23 city/31 highway.
For an entry-level trim, the Sport is well stocked, getting automatic LED headlights, LED taillights, high beam control, rain-sensing wipers, side mirrors with turn-signal indicators, dual-zone automatic climate control, a rearview camera, remote keyless entry, push-button ignition, a 60/40 split fold-down rear seatback with remote trunk operation, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear selector. The Touring adds a moonroof, Mazda’s Advanced Keyless Entry system (which doesn’t require you to use the key fob to operate the locks), simulated-leather sport seats, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and heated front seats. The Grand Touring supplies an auto-dimming driver’s side mirror, and auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, and steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters.
The Grand Touring Reserve yields signature LED headlights, an adaptive front lighting system, a windshield wiper de-icer, automatic power-folding side mirrors, a spoiler mounted on the trunk lid, leather seats, memory functions and additional power adjustments for the driver’s seat, a power-adjustable front passenger’s seat, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a head-up display. The new Carbon Edition has its own distinctive style, with a Polymetal Gray exterior, red leather seats with black stitching, and black exterior elements (rear spoiler, side mirrors, and 19-inch wheels). The ultra-luxurious Signature gets a “Signature” trim badge, LED interior lighting, suede and wood interior trim, and a black headliner.
Active Safety and Technology Features
All six of the 2021 Mazda6 trims come with i-ACTIVSENSE, a full suite of active driver aids. These consist of blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, advanced smart city brake support with collision warning and pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go. The loaded Signature gets even more: a surround-view camera system, traffic sign recognition, front and rear parking sensors, rear smart city brake support, and a driver attention monitor. All trims are also equipped with an E911 automatic emergency notification system.
The Sport and Touring get the base infotainment system, which has voice recognition, an 8-inch touchscreen, a six-speaker audio system, HD radio, SMS text message functionality, Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio capability, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. For connecting and charging, there’s an auxiliary-audio input jack, two 12-volt power outlets, and a USB port. The Grand Touring, Grand Touring Reserve, and Carbon Edition are all upgraded with a premium 11-speaker Bose audio system and satellite radio; the Signature also gets navigation.
