This year’s CX-3 is available in three trims: Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring. The entry-model Sport comes standard with great features such as 16-inch alloy wheels, a roof spoiler, 60/40-split folding rear seats, and a 7-inch touchscreen with Mazda’s Connect infotainment system and other multimedia features like Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio capability, voice command, and steering-wheel mounted audio controls. The Touring upgrades to 18-inch wheels, heated mirrors, automatic wipers, automatic headlights, automatic climate control, heated front seats with a combination of simulated leather and cloth upholstery, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The top-tier Grand Touring trim gets a sunroof, adaptive headlights, full leather seating and upholstery, LED exterior lighting, a heads-up display, an integrated navigation system, and a seven-speaker Bose premium sound system with satellite and HD radio. The Grand Touring also offers an exclusive Premium package, which includes a heated steering wheel, a power-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support, memory functions for the driver’s seat, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a state-of-the-art traffic sign reader.
Mechanical Features and Fuel Economy
All ’19 CX-3 trims are equipped with a 148 horsepower 2.0-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine paired to a six-speed automatic transmission. All trims come standard with front-wheel drive but have all-wheel drive availability. The CX-3 boasts great fuel economy: FWD models get an EPA-estimated 29 mpg city/34 mpg highway, and the AWD models trail slightly with an EPA-rated 27 mpg city and 32 mpg highway.
The CX-3 is loaded with safety features to enhance the safety of everyone in it. It received a 5-Star Overall Safety Rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for exceptional collision test results. All models come standard with a rearview camera and advanced front, front side-impact, and side-impact air bags and curtains. Even the base Sport model gets crash-mitigating active-safety features like frontal collision warning with automatic braking, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The Grand Touring ups the driver-assist technology with forward collision mitigation with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning and automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control with full-speed range.
